PV Pledges

Let’s be honest — we’re extremely fortunate to make a living working with so many talented artists and helping them release all of their incredible music. Being a part of Polyvinyl often feels more like a privilege than a job.

We know not everyone is so lucky, and we also know that there are so many great people and organizations that seek to make our world a better place.

Over the years, we've taken part in numerous efforts to aid the greater good: curating a benefit compilation in the wake of a devastating earthquake and tsunami in Japan that still continues to raise money for the Red Cross, sponsoring the Pygmalion Festival right here in Champaign-Urbana, and participating in multiple Bandcamp-led drives to benefit the ACLU (to name a few).

But we can always do more.

And so we’re excited to introduce PV Pledges, a symbol of our ongoing commitment to help those doing great things in our local communities and greater music communities.

Check out what we've been up to in 2019!

  • Polyvinyl + The Get Up Kids supported Steps of Faith Foundation through sales of a limited number of test pressings for the band's album, Problems.
  • Polyvinyl + Palehound supported The Young Center for Immigrant Children's Rights through sales of the band's album, Black Friday.
  • Polyvinyl + Generationals supported No Kid Hungry through sales of the band's album, Reader As Detective.
  • Polyvinyl + Vivian Girls supported The Yellowhammer Fund through sales of a limited number of test pressings for the band's album, Memory.
  • Polyvinyl + Chris Farren supported RAINN through sales of a limited number of test pressings for his album, Born Hot.
  • We teamed up with a few of our extremely talented musicians to produce a series of unique mugs (our new Mugshots series) from which a portion of the proceeds are donated to an organization of the artist's choosing.
  • Polyvinyl + American Football, Jeff Rosenstock, and Xiu Xiu supported reproductive rights by donating signed albums and test pressings sold via eBay auctions, with 100% of the proceeds benefiting ARC-Southeast, The Yellowhammer Fund and National Network of Abortion Funds.
  • We were also pleased to support Chicago-based After School Matters and The UP Center of Champaign County through donations collected at records fair we have participated in, including the CHIRP Record Fair at Pitchfork Music Festival and MADE Fest during PYGMAILION.

In 2018 our objective was to support a deserving cause or organization one day each month by donating 10% of our total online store revenue.
